Mature Ornamental Cherry Tree Prunus Accolade
An outstanding tree for all gardens but due to the size, a good choice for the smaller garden or larger garden with lots of sheds or big people in it. Expect a height of around 4m at the 10-year point but could grow more depending on local conditions. An ultimate height of around 5 metres is average.

During spring bronze new leaves open, turning rich green in summer and finally to fiery shades during autumn. Masses of large, fragrant, semi-double light pink blooms carpet the branches in late spring.

Considered to be a reliable ornamental Cherry tree, not because it will be at the train station to pick you up on time or order the online shopping before the milk runs out but more for making a regular blossom appearance at the right time of year. Expect the Accolade blossoms to make an appearance around April/May time although with the freaky weather we are having this could be plus or minus a few hours.

For best results plant in full sun. This does not mean wrap the roots in a controversial red top newspaper. It does mean expose to as much as possible the radiant effects of our nearest star. This is also not a suggestion that you take up rocket building and strap your Prunus Accolade to the side of it because you think the tree needs a pick me up.

What Our Customers Are Saying About Our Ornamental Cherry Tree (Prunus `Accolade`)

Hi Alan, Many thanks for your amusing email. The Prunus Accolade tree arrived in perfect condition and beautifully packaged and as yet has not done anything naughty. I have not planted the tree yet as it is going to commemorate a very big landmark in my life. The day my mortgage is paid off....I thought about celebrating the usual way and then getting the hangover from hell and also wasting my money in the process and this seemed like a much better idea. If all goes well it should be sorted in a couple of weeks and I will raise a glass. Then every time I see the tree it will remind me of this monumental day. I am watering and feeding the tree in the meantime and I am sure that it has grown already. I am really pleased with the quality, the price and the communication from Trees online and would not hesitate to use you again. Kindest regards Sherrie 0616

Hello.Tree arrived today (thursday), wife very pleased. Thanks. Bob. 1012

Ornamental Tree Roots In The Shade e.g. Behind A Fence
It is more important that that foliage (posh term for leaves) receives the sunlight than the roots. So if the canopy of your ornamental tree can sunbathe but the bottom of your tree thinks there has been a nuclear winter then that is ok. You might want to ensure you have good drainage as water and no sun is the start of algae and other such issues.

Early Autumn Leaf Fall
Heat stress, being potted, lack of water, being boxed up for a few days etc can cause early Autumn leaf fall. Once planted, normal service will resume next season.

Do I Need To Stake My Ornamental Tree?
9 out of 10 times the answer will be no, especially if under 200cm tall. However our article on Tree Staking should help guide you.

Climate Change
Climate Change has increased aesthetic foliage issues such as Powdery Mildew, Shothole, Rust, frost damage etc These are not terminal issues and will usually last a season or less. All trees are inspected before being sent out to ensure they are fundamentally healthy and will bounce back.

Planting In The Corner Of A Garden
Air and light is reduced in this location which could promote fungus and bacterial issues. If the corner is of the house and a fence then you also have leeching issues to contend with from cement and wood preservatives. Also when it rains, that area would experience higher water levels so we advise against it unless the plant is very hardy.

Mature Tree Warranty
Once a tree is over 3 years old, the failure rate is considerably less and our Tree Warranty does not cover it at 100%. Please check details.

Fruit On Ornamental Cherry Trees
