Differing from our other two Bramley apple trees, Bramley Original (Malus domestica (Bramley Original') was propagated from the original tree in Nottingham by kind permission of the owner Mrs Nancy Harrison. There is a belief by many enthusiasts, that over time, the ‘modern' Bramley has lost flavour and quality. Propagation from the original tree provides an opportunity to experience this variety in its original and pure form.
Month of Picking: October
Type of Apple: Cooking
Self-fertile/Not self-fertile: This apple is not self-fertile and requires another apple to act as a pollination partner.
This apple is in flowering period is C3.
How to chose a suitable pollination partner. Bramley Original is a triploid apple variety, therefore two apples are required to act as pollination partners:
To make it easy to match this apple with a suitable pollination partner we have used a series of codes, which are C1, C2, C3, C4 and C5 and relate to flowering periods. Every apple variety we sell will have one of these codes.
The code we have given this apple tree means that you need to find another apple with the same code or one less or one more, so for example if the apple is code C3, then another apple variety with code C2 or C4 would be necessary to act as a reliable pollination partner.
