A very unusual tree, the Saw-Leaf or Chinese ElmTree (Zelkova serrulata 'Kiwi Sunset') hails from China, and interestingly is a relative of the European Elm. A relatively recent introduction to the UK, this is a medium to large tree with a wide attractive, umbrella shaped habit. Its smooth, grey bark flakes attractively, and it displays fine shades of red and bronze in autumn. These trees do best in fertile, sandy, loamy soils. Expect a height of some 6m (20ft) after 10 years. This tree is supplied at a height of between 1.5m (5ft) and 1.7m (5ft 8in) and in a 12 litre container for year round planting and better results than from bare-root or rootballed stock. Message card included at no additional cost if required. Just add the information required on the card at checkout.
All ornamental trees (not vines) are topped at 1.3 metres to encourage a natural ornamental tree shape with obvious exceptions e.g. patio sizes. This means that your tree was pruned during the growing process and then allowed to grow to the size it is now supplied at.
