A very commonly planted evergreen tree in Britain, the Western Red Cedar Tree (Thuja plicata) is a native species of North America.  A tree ideal for planting in shady areas and wet areas, it is quite often confused with Lawson's Cypress, however it differs in that it foliage is shiny and flat and carries an attractive aromatic, pineapple) scent.  It is well-suited as a hedge.  Western Red Cedar is an important timber species.  Expect a final height of 40m (133ft).

Benefits of using our plug plant trees

Our trees are sold as plug plants, in other words the roots are encased in compost. This means that planting can be carried out at any time of the year, provided they are watered in periods of drought, compared to bare-root plants which can only be planted during the plants normal dormant period (November to March).  All of these trees are UK grown, which is important for successful establishment.
