Bare Root Mountain Ash or Rowan Tree Sorbus Aucuparia (Click the link for Containerised Mountain Ash)
80+cm: 1-2 years old
125+cm: 125-180cm tall, 2-3 year feathered or half standard (please specify at checkout if important)
Girth 6-8cm: Around 180-240cm tall, Standard Tree. Only girth is guaranteed.
Girth 8-10cm: Around 240-300cm tall, Standard /feathered tree (state which one at checkout). Only girth is guaranteed.
Mountain Ash Characteristics
This is spreading tree with rich green leaves that turn almost fluorescent red and yellow in autumn and clusters of small white flowers mask the tree in late spring. Crimson berries in autumn with great foliage colours.
Mountain Ash or Rowan is a conical-shaped tree and ideal for a small, urban garden even those in colder parts of the UK. It will tolerate coastal and exposed conditions, wet sites, chalk and clay although shallow chalk it may suffer.
Mountain Ash Height
A medium height tree, so expect a height of around 6-8m after 10 years. Mountain Ash is quite a columnar tree so expect its width to be around a third of its height.

9 out of 10 times the answer will be no, especially if under 200cm tall. However our article on Tree Staking should help guide you.
Planting In The Corner Of A Garden
Air and light is reduced in this location which could promote fungus and bacterial issues. If the corner is of the house and a fence then you also have leeching issues to contend with from cement and wood preservatives. Also when it rains, that area would experience higher water levels so we advise against it unless the plant is very hardy.
1 Year Maiden Bare Root Trees
If you plant a 1 Year maiden tree and do not prune it at all, it will grow a little more upright and have more clear stem.
Ornamental Tree Roots In The Shade e.g. Behind A Fence
It is more important that that foliage (posh term for leaves) receives the sunlight than the roots.
Have good drainage as water and no sun is the start of algae and other issues.
