Lord Napier (Prunus 'Lord Napier') is an old English nectarine variety, first introduced in 1860. One of the earliest and largest of all the nectarines. The skin has a very dark crimson cheek in full sun. Its flesh is very white, melting and very juicy. The flesh separates well from the stone (freestone). (Sawbridgeworth 1860) Type of Nectarine: Eating Time of Picking: Early August Self-Fertile/Not Self-Fertile: Lord Napier is a self-fertile nectarine, therefore only one tree is required for pollination Rootstock Available: This tree is available on a Semi-Vigorous St Julien Rootstock meaning the tree will reach an ultimate height of 3.6 metres. Lord Napier is supplied in a 12 litre container which means it can be planted at any time of year, not forgetting that regular watering is a pre-requisite especially in dry and warm/hot weather. Our nectarine trees are grown in the UK so they are well-suited to UK climatic conditions. We will include a message card included at no additional cost if required. Small Fruit Trees If you are looking for something a little more petite to give as a tree gift or just do not have lots of garden space then have a look at our SMALL FRUIT TREES collection. We currently have patio sized Apple, Plum, Nectarine, Cherry and Pear trees. Great for growing in pots and a very interesting focal point for your patio. ENGRAVED LABELS (opens up in same window) are a popular addition to any tree given as a gift. Got something nice to say? Then set it in copper. Your message can be engraved into an attractive copper label that stays with the tree. These will certainly last as long as the tree does and very useful to keep your sentiment alive every time the label is viewed.
