Monterey or Radiata Pine is native to small areas of coastal California. A major commercial forestry species in New Zealand. In Britain, it is only really suitable for planting on south and west coastal locations, for example, Cornwall, Dumfris and Galloway and similar areas in Ireland. A large, attractive tree with deeply fissured bark and dense whorl of branches. Expect a final height of 40m (133). Woodland Design Principles - The creation of a Pineteum (Collection of Pine trees) Typically, Monterey or Radiata Pine may be planted as an individual tree or as an avenue of trees. Estate and Policy Woodland plantings from the 18th Century often found this tree planted along with other non-native, exotic tree species. Today, 150 years later these trees form an amazing sight and we think that this tree worthy of planting to achieve the same effect for future generations.
