Why choose a tree as a gift?

A tree is a long-lasting and popular gift and good for the environment.

This tree presentation box contains one english oak/pedunculate oak  tree (quercus robur)

The english oak is a well-known, native British tree.  It has proven a popular gift for those who have a larger garden and is to many a quintissentially English tree, although in many parts of Britain it would more appropriate for it to be called the pedunculate oak.  We have a range of 11 other popular trees, these include; horse chestnut, cherry plum, crab apple, silver birch, aspen, goat or pussy willow, hazel, mountain ash or rowan, common walnut, wild pear and scots pine.  All trees are between 20 and 40cm and are supplied in an attractive drawstring bag.

Copper Engraved Label:

We also include one of our popular copper engraved labels, which allows you to make your gift that bit more special.  Please let us know in the comments section of your order the wording you would like on the engraved labels, but do not give us more than 12 words as we will have trouble fitting them on!

Gift Message Card:

Similarly, we include a gift card, again please let us know your message.

Tree Protection:

Included is a 0.6m (2ft) tree guard and support cane to help the tree flourish and protect it from rabbit and other small animal damage.

Information on the english oak tree (quercus robur) A majestic native, British tree, the English Oak or Pedunculate Oak (Quercus robur) is a feature of the British landscape.  It is a native tree across Europe and arrived in Britain later than the Sessile Oak.  There is some discussion that the two trees are one and the same, simply from different ends of their natural geographic range.  Both English Oak and Sessile Oak can hybridise with the resulting trees being difficult to classify as one or the other.  English Oak is a tree capable of living for many hundreds of years.  It is characterised by its broadish head of gnarled branches, when growing in an open setting.  Attractive leaves, which are nearly stalkless are the real indicator of this tree as opposed to Sessile Oak, where the leaves have stalks.  Expect a final height of 36m (120ft).
