Plant Health & Plant Passports
At Trees-Online.co.uk we take plant health, traceability and biosecurity seriously. We comply with UK plant health law (retained from Regulation (EU) 2016/2031) and work only with authorised UK growers and nurseries.
What Is A Plant Passport?
A Plant Passport is an official label confirming that certain plants and trees have been professionally grown, inspected and traced through the supply chain in line with UK plant health rules. Many “plants for planting” require a passport when sold, supplied or moved within Great Britain.
Who Issues Plant Passports?
Only operators authorised by the Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) may issue plant passports. Authorised nurseries are inspected by APHA and must meet strict standards for hygiene, record-keeping and monitoring for notifiable pests and diseases.
Our Role
We are not an authorised operator and we do not issue plant passports. We source exclusively from APHA-registered UK nurseries that are authorised to issue plant passports for the plants they grow and dispatch.
How Your Order Is Handled
Your order is selected, packaged and labelled by an APHA-registered supplier. Any plant that requires a passport carries one issued by that authorised nursery at batch or consignment level, and the plants are delivered directly from the authorised nursery to you.
No Per-Tree Numbers
We do not receive or assign an individual passport number for each tree. Our authorised suppliers issue passports at batch/consignment level, and we keep internal records linking each order to the supplier and their traceability code.
Sourcing (Including EU Imports)
All plants sold through Trees-Online.co.uk are supplied by APHA-registered and authorised UK nurseries. Some partner nurseries may legally import plants from the EU under approved phytosanitary controls and issue GB plant passports following inspection. Trees-Online.co.uk does not import plants directly or issue plant passports.
Traceability & Record-Keeping
We maintain full traceability linking every order to the supplying nursery and the relevant plant passport details. These records are retained in line with APHA guidance and are available to plant-health authorities on request.
