Katy Apple Tree
An introduction from Sweden, where it was introduced in 1947, Katy (Malus domestica 'Katy') is the result of the cross between James Grieve x Worcester Pearmain. Katy carries heavy crops of bright red early fruiting apples. The apples have a sweet, juicy, acidic taste with firm flesh. In addition, the apples also make excellent fresh juice and even a palatable cider.
Expect a large crop of firm apples that are excellent for juicing. Compared to many of its apple tree friends, the Katy apple tree will be going to the tree surgeon considerably less times with illness i.e. high disease resistance.
Our Katy apple tree is considered suitable for growing in containers and patio growing. Not because it is happiest when looking through your French doors to see what is on the TV but because it will give good results when grown in a pot.
For best quality of Katy apples, best to eat straight from the tree or within a few days if kept in the fridge.
As our Katy apple tree is quite hardy, it is recommended for growing across the whole of the UK unless you live in a light house, a submarine or the Arctic expedition group train in your garden.
