Ravensbill Mountain Ash or Rowan Tree click the link for containerised Ravensbill Mountain Ash and for more information.

The Ravensbill is an upright tree and it gets its name from the Winter buds apparently as they are long, black and curved. The leaves turn a great yellow orange in the Autumn.

A large number of blossoms in Spring make for an attractive feature of the tree which then, in turn, go to bright red berries and is considered to be a good choice of tree for planting in parks, gardens etc because of its interesting looks, longevity and acceptance of a wide range of soil types.

Only prune when absolutely necessary e.g. dead, diseased or crossing over branches.

Ravensbill is suitable for planting in normal coastal and/or wet conditions, clay spoil and will attract the birds.

Considered a small tree, so expect a height of around 4 metres (13 foot) after 10 years although this can vary depending on local conditions and weather.

Message card included at no additional cost if required. Just add the information required on the card at checkout.

Do I Need To Stake My Bare Root Tree?
Usually no, especially if under 200cm tall. Our article on Tree Staking should help guide you.

Planting In The Corner Of A Garden
Usually air and light is reduced and if it is a corner with a wooden fence and the house then leeching from both could compound issues. Try to avoid.

1 Year Maiden Bare Root Trees
If you plant a 1 Year maiden tree and do not prune it at all, it will grow a little more upright and have more clear stem

Sorbus Not Flowering
Sounds like it might need a fertilizer. Nitrogen encourages leafy growth, often at the expense of flowers and fruit. Select a fruit tree specific fertilizer, or use a fertilizer that promotes flowers, such as "0-10-10" or "15-30-15." The numbers represent the amount of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium contained by the fertilizer. Berry production does vary each year due in to weather conditions.
