Family Apple Tree (Cox, Katy and James Grieve)
Enjoy a whole family of delicious eating apples on one tree. This Family Apple Tree combines Cox’s Orange Pippin, Katy and James Grieve, with branches from each variety carefully grafted onto the same rootstock. The result is three different apple varieties growing on one tree, giving you a choice of flavours and a longer cropping season without needing room for three separate trees.
Katy starts the season in early autumn and is a vigorous, heavy-cropping dessert apple. Its attractive red-flushed fruit has crisp, juicy white flesh with a sweet, tangy flavour, making it an excellent apple for eating straight from the tree.
James Grieve follows from around September into October and is known for producing good, regular crops. The apples are particularly juicy with a delicate flavour and are versatile too – they can be eaten fresh when ripe or used for cooking when picked slightly earlier.
Cox’s Orange Pippin extends the season later, with fruit for use from around October through to January. It is one of the classic British dessert apples, prized for its distinctive rich, aromatic and complex flavour.
All three varieties belong to pollination group 3, so their flowering periods overlap and they act as good pollination partners for one another, helping to support reliable fruit production.
Together, the three varieties give you an extended apple season from September into January. Katy provides the early crop, James Grieve follows through early and mid-autumn, while Cox continues the eating season into winter.
Available on MM106 semi-vigorous rootstock, which means this tree will reach an approximate height of 3.6m (11ft). The tree is supplied in a large 12 litre container for year-round planting.
Message card included at no additional cost if required.
