Ulex europaeus is a bushy evergreen shrub with densely branched, strongly spiny stems. Gorse bushes produce bright yellow, coconut-scented flowers mainly during winter and spring, followed by dark seed pods. Common gorse plants perform best in full sun on freely draining ground.
