Old Greengage (Prunus domestica 'Old Greengage') is an old fashioned variety of Gage.  Chosen for its rich, old-fashioned flavour.  Its fruit are an appealing yellow-green colour and coupled with its sweet taste, makes this variety suitable for a range of uses, for example, jam production or simply eating.  Not a self-fertile variety.

Month of Picking: Mid-August

Type of Gage: Eating

Self-fertile/Not self-fertile: This gage is partially self-fertile so may be a need for another gage for pollination

This gage is in flowering period is C3.

Other gages which will be suitable pollination partners require to be in the flowering periods C2, C3 and C4.

This variety of gage tree is supplied in a 12 litre container, which means that the tree can be planted any time of the year and with better results than either bare-root or rootballed trees.

Choosing the type of tree and rootstock:

Semi-Dwarf Rootstock Pixy (Bush), supplied at a height of between 1.25 and 1.50 metres and the tree will reach an approximate height of 3.0 metres

Semi-Vigorous Rootstock St.Julien (Bush Type), supplied at a height of between 1.25 and 1.50 metres and the tree will reach an approximate height of 3.6 metres

Please tell us at checkout when ordering which tree type and rootstock you require.

Important - Plums/Gages and DamsonsWe advise the purchase and planting of all plums, gages and damsons before the end of September.  There have been severe losses last season on container grown stock.  It is thought that the cause is physiological and has worsened due to the changing climate conditions.  It is therefore recommended to plant healthy new season stock in late August through to the end of September to establish before the winter to minimise losses. Trees-online cannot guarantee survival of any of these trees.  Any planting is entirely at the customers own risk.
