Larch trees are deciduous conifers whose soft green needles turn yellow or orange before falling in autumn. European larch seedlings and Japanese larch seedlings perform best in open, sunny positions and grow into large conical trees with persistent cones. Young larch trees also add seasonal colour to mixed woodland planting.
