Their contained roots lower failure risk, while the price makes it practical to order around 10% extra leylandii seedlings to pot on as spares. Leylandii trees are very fast-growing evergreen conifers with dense sprays of scale-like foliage. Small leylandii trees are easy to position before growing on, and regular trimming can maintain them as leylandii hedging plants or screens. Their dense growth provides year-round privacy and shelter.
