Field maple hedging is a hardy native choice for mixed country hedges or an attractive garden boundary. These hedge saplings tolerate exposed and coastal positions, grow in sun or partial shade, cope with clay, chalk, loam and sandy soils, respond well to regular clipping, and provide warm yellow autumn colour and useful habitat for wildlife.
