Czar Plum Tree
An old-fashioned English plum variety, first introduced in the 19th Century, Czar (Prunus domestica 'Czar') is the result of a cross between the plum varieties Prince Englebert x Early Rivers. A medium sized, dark purple plum with a sweet yellow flesh. Czar produces very heavy crops and is always reliable. A multi-purpose plum, Czar is good for eating, cooking and bottling. A self fertile plum so need for a pollination partner to ensure a crop of plums.

Good for eating, cooking and bottling. (Herts 19th Century)

Month of Picking: Early August

Type of Plum: Eating/Cooking

Fertility: This plum is self-fertile so no other plum tree is required for pollination (it will produce fruit without the need for another plum tree nearby)

This plum is in flowering period C3 and will act as a suitable pollination partner for non-fertile plum trees in the flowering periods C2, C3 and C4.

Our Czar plum tree is supplied in a 7-12 litre container, which means that the tree can be planted any time of the year and with better results than either bare-root or rootballed trees.

Please choose which root stock (controls mature height) and pot size you require from the drop down list below.

Final heights can also be controlled by container size or pruning.

See What Our Customers Are Saying About Our Czar Plum Trees
Hi Alan, All arrived, one fig tree as a presenter my mum, she is delighted. The trees arrived as briefed, and are exactly as hoped. I have bought trees from other providers online and they have arrived looking as if they have travelled fro a long time and been kept in the dark, the guardian could look into this as a trees rights story. Your trees (Jordan fig, Czar and Hermana plum and Sunburst Cherry) arrived on time and perfect, thank you Frank G 0919

Planting In The Corner Of A Garden

Air and light is reduced in this location which could promote fungus and bacterial issues. Corners of houses and fences can also suffer leeching issues so we advise against it.

Important Plum Tree information

Plum fruit trees may not winter well if left in their containers and may die so you need to plant as soon as you get them especially if purchased between October and March. Keeping them protected in a heated conservatory or green house should solve this issue if you are not going to plant them.

Mirabelle Plum Pollination
Technically speaking it is possible to use Mirabelle plum trees to pollinate standard plum trees but has more risk than using a standard plum tree. If your plum tree is self-fertile, this of course is not an issue.
