This tree is aptly named as its leaves turn an amazing red colour in September and through into October. In spring and summer its leaves are dark green and this tree carries small groups of red flowers during spring. A roundish-headed tree, October Glory will make for an attractive ornamental tree in a medium to large garden where its true beauty can be fully appreciated. Soil type is important in maximising its colour. We recommend a moist soil, either neutral pH to slightly acidic and a position in full sun is best.
October Glory is supplied at a height of 90cm -250cm in a 5 -20L container, which means that the tree has an already established root system and therefore this tree can be planted any time of the year and with better results than either bare-root or rootballed trees.
The options usually available are:
5L : These are usually 1-2 years old and will be 90-150cm tall depending on weather and time of year purchased.
12/20L : These are usually 2-3 years old and will be 150-250cm tall depending on weather and time of year purchased.
If the options available are less than those explained above then we are out of stock of that item.
If you require many maple trees then click WHOLESALE MAPLE TREES where you can find trees from £0.81 pence per tree when buying 100. These are 40cm to 60cm tall.
Ornamental Tree Topping
All ornamental trees (not vines) are topped at 1.3 metres to encourage a natural ornamental tree shape with obvious exceptions e.g. patio sizes. This means that your tree was pruned during the growing process and then allowed to grow to the size it is now supplied at.

Ornamental Tree Roots In The Shade e.g. Behind A Fence
It is more important that that foliage (posh term for leaves) receives the sunlight than the roots. So if the canopy of your ornamental tree can sunbathe but the bottom of your tree thinks there has been a nuclear winter then that is ok. You might want to ensure you have good drainage as water and no sun is the start of algae and other such issues.
Do I Need To Stake My Ornamental Tree?
9 out of 10 times the answer will be no, especially if under 200cm tall. However our article on Tree Staking should help guide you.
